My Audience

My Audience is a series of photographs made of the groups who have showed up for my lectures and poetry readings over the years.

Photographed with a large format view camera, they resemble banquet photographs from the early 20th century. What could easily be seen as a project for my vanity is mediated somewhat by the fact that the audiences have to hold very still for the camera, making them look bored and unmoved. Also, in the case of the poetry readings, the attendance is rather spotty. The photographs have never been shown or published.
