Edible Sculpture Party

For many years, my wife, the painter, Lisa Sanditz, and I, hosted an annual Edible Sculpture Party in Tivoli, NY.

It began as a smallish gathering of friends and fellow artists at our house, and grew larger and larger, going from the pavilion in the village park, to the Hessel Museum at Bard College. All were invited, and very well-known artists, writers, designers and filmmakers made edible sculptures alongside local kids and neighbors. The event was treated first as an exhibition, so everyone’s work was viewed by all. Second, it was a meal. Participants were encouraged to make delicious things, and to make savory things if possible (so the meal would be nutritious.) Illustrious judges gave prizes. It became a regular holiday.
